kilowatts.cc — Tesla Energy Optimizer
Last updated: 17 July 2026
1. Who provides this service
kilowatts.cc is operated by:
Rui Pires
Braga, Portugal
Email: [email protected]
"We", "us", and "our" refer to Rui Pires operating kilowatts.cc. "You" refers to the person using the service.
2. What kilowatts.cc does
kilowatts.cc is a software service that connects to your Tesla account via the Tesla Fleet API and automates energy decisions — such as scheduling vehicle charging during cheap electricity hours and managing Powerwall operating modes — based on dynamic day-ahead electricity tariffs and your preferences.
The service acts on your behalf using authorisation you grant via Tesla's official OAuth 2.0 flow. You can revoke that authorisation at any time.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and a legal resident of a country where the service is available. The service is currently offered to users in the European Union and European Economic Area. You must be the owner or authorised user of the Tesla vehicle or Powerwall you connect.
4. Account and access
- You sign in via a magic link sent to your email. You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe are being misused.
5. Tesla integration
- By connecting your Tesla account, you authorise kilowatts.cc to read vehicle and energy site data and to send commands (charge start/stop, charge schedule, Powerwall mode changes) on your behalf via the Tesla Fleet API.
- You can disconnect your Tesla account at any time from the account settings page. On disconnection, we revoke your OAuth tokens immediately.
- We use only the API scopes necessary to provide the automations you have enabled. We do not access Tesla data for any purpose other than operating your automations.
- Tesla's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy govern Tesla's data practices. kilowatts.cc is not affiliated with or endorsed by Tesla, Inc.
6. Pricing and billing
Free launch month
New users receive their first month of access free, with no payment method required and no automatic conversion to a paid plan. Near the end of the free month, you will receive an email inviting you to subscribe. If you do not subscribe, your account will become inactive (automations will stop) and your data will be retained for 30 days before deletion.
Paid subscription
After the free month, you can choose a €3/month or €30/year recurring subscription, billed via Stripe. Your subscription renews at the selected interval unless you cancel it. You can cancel at any time; it remains active until the end of the billing period you have paid for. No minimum term or commitment applies. Prices include applicable VAT where required.
Credits
The base subscription includes 150 credits per month (1 credit = €0.01). Credits are used to pay for Tesla API calls at cost plus a small buffer. The credit menu and costs are shown on the pricing page. Additional credits are available in top-ups at €1.50 per 100 credits; purchased credits last 12 months and are spent after your monthly allocation.
Refunds
We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. If a technical fault on our side prevents the service from functioning for more than 48 consecutive hours, contact us and we will issue a prorated credit.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service to send commands to a vehicle you do not own or are not authorised to control.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the service or its APIs.
- Use the service in any way that violates applicable law.
- Resell, sublicense, or provide access to the service to third parties.
8. Service availability and reliability
kilowatts.cc is provided on a best-effort basis. During the free beta period, the service runs on home-server infrastructure and may experience downtime due to power or internet outages. We will disclose any extended outages promptly by email.
We do not guarantee that automations will fire at an exact moment, or that any particular charging or Powerwall outcome will be achieved. Factors outside our control — including Tesla API availability, your vehicle's connectivity, and electricity grid conditions — affect outcomes.
The service does not guarantee any reduction in electricity costs. Results depend on your tariff, usage patterns, and local conditions.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
- Our total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.
- We are not liable for any damage to your vehicle, Powerwall, home electrical system, or any third-party systems caused by commands sent via the Tesla Fleet API, provided those commands were within the scope of the automations you enabled.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
10. Intellectual property
kilowatts.cc and its source code, design, and content are owned by Rui Pires. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute any part of the service without written permission.
11. Termination
You may close your account at any time from the account settings page. We may terminate or suspend your account immediately if you breach these terms. On termination, your Tesla authorisation is revoked and your data is deleted per our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to the service and these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept the new terms, you may close your account before the effective date.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Braga, Portugal.
EU consumers may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr
